Laughing together can be a powerful force for bonding and bringing people closer to one another, but laughter and humour can also be divisive and exclusionary. This year’s theme invites presentations on either or both aspects of laughter and humour. As in previous AHSN conferences, however, presentations are welcome on all aspects of social laughter and humour, and from diverse disciplinary perspectives, including not only humour studies as such, but also literary studies, linguistics, cultural studies, politics, psychology, philosophy, history, comedy studies, law, creative practices, sociology, communication studies and others. Visit the 26th AHSN Conference webpage for details on keynote speakers, registration, important dates and travel and accommodation options. For all enquiries, please email us.

The 26th AHSN Conference is co-hosted by Professor Cliff Goddard of Griffith University’s School of Humanities, Languages and Social Science, and the Griffith Centre for Social and Cultural Research (GCSCR).

Important Dates:

Submission portal opens on June 1, 2019

Submission portal closes on September 22, 2019

Acceptance advice by October 1, 2019

Registration for presenters and non-presenters August 1, 2019 – January 8, 2020

Conference dates: February 5-7, 2020

Enquiries:

Should you have any questions or need any help, please contact us at [email protected]

The University of Sydney en-US Australasian Humour Studies Network Conference N/A Humour in all its forms:on screen, on the page, on stage, on air, online… https://openjournals.library.sydney.edu.au/AHSN/article/view/13439
AHSN Conference
6-8 February 2019
RMIT University, Melbourne
Editors AHSN Copyright (c) 2019 Australasian Humour Studies Network Conference 2019-05-09 2019-05-09
