Evaluation of implementation of MyWhiplash Navigator website and the embedded interactive on undergraduate improve knowledge and practice of managing people with whiplash.
Abstract
The MyWhiplash Navigator website is an evidence-based tool that facilitates and supports healthcare professionals (HCPs) and students in managing people with whiplash (WAD). To date, we have yet to evaluate whether this is helpful in their learning and improves their ability to manage with WAD. We aim to evaluate if the resource’s website and the embedded online interactive cases assist undergraduate education in improving their knowledge and practice of managing people whiplash. Currently, students use the website to assist their learning during the WAD lecture and tutorial, and we have now embedded interactive online case studies to improve knowledge and practice of managing WAD. Undergraduate students who are taking the WAD lecturer will be invited. The students will be asked to complete a baseline questionnaire before the lecturer and tutorial. During the lecture, it will be explained that the website can be used as a resource to learn and consolidate their knowledge about WAD. The website has content about WAD risk assessment, patient assessment and management. There are also three interactive online studies to support student learning. Case studies have information about WAD classification, prognosis, patient impairment contributions and appropriate management plans and referrals. After three months, students will receive the follow-up baseline survey, with some knowledge of how useful the website and case studies were and whether the website can be a resource to be integrated into managing people with WAD in their practices.Published
