Facilitating practice change using a 360-degree co-designed digital approach with GPs to access timely, evidence-based treatment of people with eating disorders in primary care settings
Abstract
The GP Hub is an innovative digital platform designed to support GPs in the identification and management of people with eating disorders (EDs). The platform offers immediate access to clinical guidelines, evidence-based information, and decision-making tools, all tailored to the needs of GPs at the point of care. Co-designed with GPs, people with lived experience of EDs, clinicians, and primary care staff, the GP Hub integrates seamlessly into existing workflows, providing practical, time-saving resources that are both effective and easy to use. This presentation will explore the initial rollout of the GP Hub, focusing on adoption rates, user feedback, and how the platform's features evolved through an iterative, user-driven development process. The session will highlight the most valued features, such as quick access tools, tailored decision aids, and integrated patient management resources. It will also cover the challenges of integrating the platform into existing workflows and the strategies employed to foster engagement among busy practitioners. Early pilot data from 1426 GPs and other practice staff across Australia show high levels of usability, acceptability, and effectiveness, with pilot feedback indicating that the Hub has the potential to improve GPs' confidence, knowledge, and willingness to assess and treat EDs. This presentation will share insights from the development process, user feedback, and the impact the Hub has had on clinical practice, supporting GPs to intervene earlier and more effectively in the management of eating disorders.Published
