By Greek-Australian literature I mean that subset of Australian literature written in the main by those who are (or have been) Greek migrants or by those who were brought up in a Greek migrant household. I say "in the main" because one must consider the position of such writers as Gillian Bouras and Beverley Farmer who married Greek migrants and lived in Greek villages. There is strong evidence to suggest that thisexperience made Bouras into a writer. There is also Patrick White whose long relationship with Manolis Lascaris suggests some relevance to the category. I would suggest that these writers are a "marginal" group of the subset even though their position might be central in the field as a whole, i.e. Australian literature.
