Focus and Scope

Launched in 2008, the Australian and New Zealand Journal of European Studies (ANZJES) provides a forum for discussion of contemporary European issues and fosters links among those working in the field both in Australia and New Zealand and internationally. ANZJES aims to facilitate scholarship on and understanding of contemporary Europe and to promote original research on Europe across a broad range of disciplines from the social sciences to cultural studies and the humanities.

ANZJES is a scholarly, double-blind peer-refereed publication, which reflects the aims of its founding organisation, the European Studies Association of Australia New Zealand (ESAANZ). ANZJES is now published as an Open Access Journal hosted through the University Library at the University of Sydney.
