Abstract

In the broader historical sweep, Greek-Arab contacts go back at least to the times of Alexander the Great; and we can find early references to the Arabs and Arabia in Herodotus’ Histories. There is no doubt that the rise of Islam (in the 7th century CE) marked a turning point in such historical contacts.
