Author Guidelines

The journal aims to provide a forum for critical analysis and debate of social policy or social work practice from all national and regional contexts. We accept papers from practitioners, students and academics. Articles may include: practice reflections (3-4,000 words), critical theoretical analysis (4-5,000 words) or original research (5-6,000 words). Articles should be scholarly and theoretically-based and informed. Articles reporting original research should include research methods and appropriate literature.

Authors are strongly encouraged to adhere to the guidelines detailed below. This saves time in later stages of copy editing and production. Articles may be returned to authors if they do not comply with the format guidelines.

Introduction (Heading 2)

The text of your research paper begins here, on a new page with fully justified text. Body text should be Normal style, Times New Roman 12 pt. Articles should be no more than 6,000 words excluding references.

Please ensure all text elements are styled as indicated, using the styles in this template.

Images and tables may take up the full width of the page. (You may need to ensure the text wrapping is ‘square’ rather than ‘in line with text’.) Please add captions.

Where possible, use Times New Roman font for all text in images graphs and tables. Place these elements either at the top of the page or the bottom, rather than in the middle.
