Author Biography

Stephen Carleton, University of Queensland

Stephen Carleton is a playwright-academic whose research interests lie in contemporary Australian playwriting, Gothic Studies, Australian theatre historiography, cli-fi plays, and writing about the Australian north. His recent creative practice has focused on a series of plays looking at catastrophic climate change as speculative fiction in the absurdist mode. His most recent academic publication is Contemporary Australian Playwriting with Chris Hay (Routledge, 2023). He heads the Centre for Critical and Creative Writing in the School of Communication and Arts at UQ.
