The paper explores the apparent disjunction between 'realism' and the 'poetic' in Christina Stead's Seven Poor Men of Sydney and argues that the novel's 'hallucinatory' qualities are, in part, a function of the constnat peripatetic movements of Stead's characters.Downloads
